Duesseldorf is a university town and a center of art and fashion. This old electoral capital is also a city of wide streets lined by elegant shops, with a ring of parks and gardens encircling its vibrant downtown area. Known as an important cultural center, the city boasts dozens of museums and in excess of 100 art galleries encompassing everything from internationally renowned facilities such as the impressive Art Collection North Rhine-Westphalia to the smaller installations found in the city’s trendy Koenigsallee area. Its location on the Rhine along with its numerous wide squares and wonderful riverside walkways makes it a particularly pleasant place to spend time.
Duesseldorf is, after all, the fashion capital of Germany. More than 800 showrooms present the latest designer and couture creations, and not just during trade show times. Königsallee, also known as Kö, meanwhile, is lined with exclusive boutiques, where it’s all too easy to succumb to temptation in the name of fashion. This is where you will find boutiques of Hugo Boss, Strellson and Calvin Klein as well as Armani, Bulgari, Gucci, Prada, Tiffany & Co. and Versace.
But Duesseldorf is not only about fashion and shopping- theatres, concert halls, art galleries and places of historical interest are also an important part of this city. And if you are a bit tired of all the shopping, art and culture , head off to Burgplatz, one of Germany’s most beautiful squares and enjoy a glass of Altbier.
Düsseldorf was my home town for more than 10 years and has a party style oldtown, a nice luxury shopping area and a river promenade for an endless walking.
Since 1977 already, Jean -Claude Bourgueil, the creative ambassador of French cuisine, has been preparing food of the very highest quality in this wonderful brick- built baroque building. The attentive service is of the same high level as the food.
