Nuremberg – Private Walking Tour
Nuremberg Private Walking Tour Through the Imperial Old Town Few German cities carry as much history per square metre as…
View tourFive markets, one driver-guide and no coach park, with two nights in each of the two smallest towns.
Five markets, one driver-guide, nine days, and no coach park. The route runs down the Romantic Road and along the Danube – Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Dinkelsbuehl, Nuremberg, Regensburg and Munich – which keeps the driving legs short and puts your clients inside walled old towns rather than on ring roads. It is built for advisors whose clients want the December Germany they have imagined, without queueing for it.
Christmas market itineraries fail when they turn into a checklist. This one gives each town at least a full evening, which is when the markets are worth seeing – the lights are on, the day visitors have gone and the stalls are working at their proper pace. Two nights in Rothenburg and two in Regensburg mean your clients unpack twice rather than five times. The guided walks run in daylight so the towns are understood before they are seen lit, which is a better order than the reverse.
One person drives and guides for the whole journey, which is the practical difference between this and a scheduled tour. They handle the luggage, the parking, the market timings, the restaurant bookings and the questions, and they adjust the plan when the weather or a closure requires it. Where a city needs a specialist – Nuremberg’s twentieth-century sites, for example – a local licensed guide is added for that segment rather than stretching the driver-guide beyond their competence.
The markets open in the last days of November and most close on 23 or 24 December, so the whole product lives inside about four weeks. Hotel space in Rothenburg and Regensburg is the binding constraint – these are small towns – and December dates should be held as early in the year as possible. Clients who want a single market instead of a journey can take the Nuremberg Christmas market walking tour or the Dresden Christmas market walking tour as a half-day add-on. Rothenburg outside December is covered by the private Rothenburg walking tour, and arrival and departure logistics are on the Munich destination page.
