Bavaria and Austria – Eight-Day Private Tour of Romantic Europe Eight days, one private driver-guide and a line that runs…
View tourTwo-day private sportscar tour from Munich into southern Bavaria, with a lead guide vehicle, briefed alpine routes and booked country lunch stops.
Bavaria built the cars and then built the roads to drive them on. This two-day programme puts your clients behind the wheel of a German sports car with a guide leading the way in a second vehicle, so nobody navigates, nobody argues about the route, and the driving stays the point. Day one stays in and around Munich; day two heads south into the Alps.
The first day is about getting comfortable with the car and reading the city. The route takes in the ceremonial axis of Ludwigstrasse and Koenigsplatz, the grounds of Nymphenburg Palace, and the roads along the Isar out towards the south of the city, with stops at Marienplatz, the Residenz and the Englischer Garten for the parts of Munich that are better seen on foot. Your guide travels ahead and briefs at each stop, which keeps the day from turning into a queue of traffic lights with commentary.
The second day leaves the city early for the lakes and the mountain roads of southern Bavaria. The usual line runs through the Tegernsee valley and on towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with the option of continuing to the castles near Fuessen if the party would rather finish with Neuschwanstein than with another pass. These are genuinely good driving roads – long sightlines, consistent surfaces and gradients that give the car something to do – and the photo stops are chosen for where the light and the view actually work rather than where the lay-by happens to be.
This suits clients who would find a coach unbearable and a chauffeur too passive: driving enthusiasts, couples marking an occasion, and parties of two or three cars travelling together. It is not a good fit for guests who want to look out of the window and listen. Clients who want the same landscape without driving it themselves should take the Neuschwanstein and Linderhof day excursion instead, and those who want the city properly explained first can add the private walking and driving tour of Munich. Chauffeured alternatives are set out under our private transfers and tours, and the city context on the Munich destination page.
