Nuremberg – Private Walking Tour

Few German cities carry as much history per square metre as Nuremberg, and almost all of it is walkable. The route through the walled city

The walk usually begins at the Hauptmarkt, where the Frauenkirche looks down on the Gothic Schoener Brunnen fountain, and climbs gently through the old town to the Kaiserburg, the imperial castle from which Holy Roman emperors ruled. On the way your clients pass the Sebalduskirche, the tanners’ lane at Weissgerbergasse with its timber-framed houses, and the house where Albrecht Duerer lived and worked. From the castle terrace the whole red-roofed old town opens up. The pace is unhurried and the sequence flexible – if a party is more interested in craft than in emperors, the guide reworks the order on the spot.

The twentieth century, handled with care

Nuremberg’s later history is part of any honest visit, and guests differ enormously in how much of it they want. Some ask only for context in the old town; others want the former party rally grounds at the Dutzendteich and the courtroom of the Nuremberg Trials added as a driven extension.
