Heidelberg

Heidelberg is the single most requested day in south-west Germany, and it is small enough that the quality of the guide decides the quality of the visit. The castle ruin above the Neckar, the oldest university in Germany and a mile of old town between them can be walked in an afternoon — or they can be explained, which is a different day entirely.

This archive holds our private formats for the city: the castle and old town walking tour, a gourmet walk through the Hauptstrasse and the market square with tastings along the way, and a sip-and-sail programme that combines Neckar valley wine with time on the water.

Two multi-day journeys also live here, because both open with a night in Heidelberg: a seven-day culture-and-spa itinerary through the south-west, and a seven-day nature-and-myths version of the same region. Either can start from Frankfurt Airport, fifty minutes away by car, with airport assistance on arrival if the party is landing long-haul.
